With junior doctors across the country staging demonstration and expressing anger over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, a former deputy superintendent of RG Kar Medical College has levelled serious allegations aginst principal Dr Sandip Ghosh who resigned after the incident.
In an exclusive interview to OTV, former deputy superintendent Akhtar Ali alleged that a sex racket was functioning at RG Kar Medical College with some students and close associates of Ghosh bringing girls to the campus.
Ali further alleged that Ghosh was involved in several illegal activities, including the selling of unclaimed bodies. Apart from the sale of unclaimed bodies, Ghosh was also involved in a biomedical waste trafficking network that extended across the border to Bangladesh.
“Sandip Ghosh was engaged in illicit activities, trafficking of unclaimed bodies and biomedical waste and other financial irregularities. There were people on the campus who spoiled the careers of several students. The students were harassed and bribes were taken,” alleged Ali.
Ali was posted at RG Kar Hospital till 2023. He informed that he had earlier highlighted such irregularities before the state vigilance commission.
“It seems that there were some powerful people who were protecting Sandip Ghosh. Now I have faith in the central agencies who are investigating,” Ali added. No comments could be obtained from Sandip Ghosh over such allegations levelled against him.
