In the last 48 hours, no incident of violence has been reported. We are trying to bring normalcy back to the city more quickly, said Satyabrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Odisha, on Sunday. He reviewed the law and order situation in violence-torn Sambalpur city.

While briefing the journalists, ACS Sahu said, “The situation is now under control. Since things are under control and no incidents of violence reported in the last 48 hours, I would like to thank all of you (people of Sambalpur town). Our efforts are on to bring normalcy back more quickly. We are discussing on it.”

“I have been attending several rounds of meetings with the DGP, senior police officers and district administrative officers since morning.  There will be such meetings tomorrow as well,” he said.

“If we live in a disciplined manner, the situation will become normal like as it was earlier. I would like to request you all that you should maintain the brotherhood and coordination,” he added.

“The important thing that happened today is about 3,000 candidates sat for different examinations. The administration had taken ample arrangements to ensure that the examinations could be held peacefully. And the examinations were conducted peacefully. This indicates the situation is normal,” he further added.

“Steps as per the law are being taken. Sambalpur is a famous city. I would like to request you all that we should try our level best to keep the city’s reputation intact,” he urged.
