Along with other railway stations across the country, the Indian Railways is also focusing on development of basic passenger amenities and modern facilities.
In Odisha as well, the East Coast Railways (ECoR) has drawn mega plans for upgrading facilities.
Already the ECoR has redefined travelling experience at Bimalagarh station. Here steps have been taken for high-level platform surface and divyangjan-friendly amenities.
Apart from this, there has been soft upgradation with improved passenger facilities, seamless passenger movement along with platform shelters.
The Bhawanipatna railway station wears a new look with better passenger experience. The total sanctioned cost is Rs 18.83 crore. This include, station modernisation with enhanced passenger facilities and extension, raising of platforms.
Apart from this, 7 bays of platform shelters, 1 passenger lift and divyangjan-friendly amenities have been included.
According to the East Coast Railway Officials, the Sambalpur city railway station is getting future ready. A total of Rs 23.76 crore has been sanctioned for front façade upgradation, 12-meter wide foot-over-bridge, 10 bay platform shelters at platform 1, 2 and 3. There will be standard signage for better way finding.
At an estimated cost of Rs 22.87, the Hirakud railway station is being revamped for smarter rail experience. One can get 12-meter wide foot-over-bridge , improved toilets, 2 passenger lifts for improved mobility and coach indication boards on real-time train information.
