Jharsuguda police on Sunday picked up one person from Burla in connection with the sensational case of kidnapping and murder of a Class X student Samarth Agrawal.

The person has been detained and is being interrogated by the police. However, Jharsuguda police has not yet revealed the identity of the person and the exact reason behind his detention.

Though police arrested two accused- Amit Kumar Sharma of Jharsuguda and Dinesh Kumar Agarwal of Brajrajnagar- in connection with the case, the exact motive behind the crime is yet to be established. 

Police have reportedly taken both the accused to Burla and Bheden last night. It has been revealed that the boy was taken to Burla after he was kidnapped and kept at a house.

Earlier on March 28, police had recovered the body of Samarth Agarwal, son of a businessman from Sarbahal, Bargarh. Amit along with his aide Dinesh abducted Samarth on March 27 while the latter was on his way for cricket practice on a scooter.

As per the allegation, the duo first demanded Rs 50 lakh and later Rs 90 lakh from Samarth’s father. Gradually, mystery has been deepened surrounding the case. Police are currently investigating different aspects of the case.

Meanwhile, friends of the deceased and several local residents took out a rally from Manmohan School till Jharsuguda police station demanding justice and dealt penalty for the accused.

Several youth and women's organisations, students, and residents of the town took part in the rally. They met the IIC at Jharsuguda police station and submitted a memorandum.
