Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi
A day after people in Odisha witnessed disturbing visuals of youths wielding swords and unleashing terror at Sisupalgarh, the Commissionerate Police on Wednesday decided to extend the ‘Sahabhagita’ scheme to the Capital city.
The Sahabhagita scheme was introduced in Cuttack in July 2022. Under the scheme, bulk of the areas are brought under direct surveillance using the existing CCTV cameras installed at crucial junctions by private establishments and persons.
More than 600 community CCTV cameras are part of the initiative in Cuttack. Now under the Sahabhagita scheme, the Commissionerate Police has appealed to the CCTV camera owners of common locations like malls, markets, business houses, apartments and others in Bhubaneswar to share their IP addresses.
“CCTVs play a crucial role in city surveillance, crime prevention and control and traffic management. We urge apartments, banks, jewellery stores to connect their CCTVs with us and share IP addresses. We urge them to install one CCTV camera focusing main road,” said Twin City Police Commissioner, Saumendra Priyadarshi.
All the information will be kept confidential. People can get more details about the initiative from the concerned local IIC or by dialing 94392 24441.
