Considering the huge rush of farmers and their inconvenience at the branch offices of Union Bank of India (UBI) in Nabarangpur district, the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC) has extended the deadline for depositing their beneficiary share at the bank.

As per reports, the OLIC has made it clear that the farmers who have applied online for deep bore wells under Biju Krushak Bikash Yojana between December 4 and December 16 can deposit their money till the December 22.

As for the issue, state adviser of OLIC Pradip Padhi, said, “As we have only three branches of the UBI in the district, farmers are facing a lot of difficulties to deposit their share money in the bank within the deadline.

Considering the farmers’ inconvenience, the Odisha government has allowed an extension of the deadline to December 22. We hope the farmers can easily deposit their share before the new deadline.”

He also assured that all the work of the farmers will be completed by December.

It may be noted here that scores of farmers drawn from various parts of the district have been thronging the three branches of the UBI, including the ones at Umerkote and Nabarangpur.

Angry, they blocked Raighar-Jeypore Road, demanding an extension of the deadline for the deposit of the beneficiary share.
