Somalika Dash, the rumoured girlfriend of Tirtol MLA and BJD leader Bijay Shankar Das, drew attention of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking justice.
Taking to Twitter, Somalika tagged CM Naveen Patnaik and wrote “You’ve always advocated for woman empowerment. Am I not a woman? I am struggling to get justice after filing complaint with non-bailable offences against MLA, Tirtol. When will he be placed behind the Bars?" (sic)

“It is very unfortunate that even after repeated requests, recording my statements and an FIR, the police never cared to ask him (Bijay Shankar Das) a single question. That is why I was forced to tweet the matter to the CM,” said Somalika.
“It took the police nine months to register a case. I am sure police have not even informed Bijay Shankar about the FIR against him. The police are shielding him because he belongs to the ruling party,” she alleged.
However, she pinned hope on CM Naveen Patnaik to listen to her. “Naveen babu’s government claims that it considers the safety of women paramount. Can’t they see what is happening here. If they respect all women, am I not a woman?” Somalika asked.
Earlier, Somalika had met Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra and requested him to raise her issue in Odisha Assembly. Somalika, who has accused MLA Das of rape and cheating, narrated how she has been running from pillar to post for justice.
On February 4, Jagatsinghpur Police had recorded the statement of Somalika in connection with an alleged betrayal case. A case was also registered against the MLA on the same day following the intervention of the Orissa High Court.
