The budget session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly witnessed ruckus for the second consecutive day on Wednesday after the Opposition parties targeted the ruling party over Minister Naba Das murder and other issues.

Soon after the House proceedings began with Question Hour, Congress MLAs moved near the Speaker's podium and raised slogans against the government.

Members of Congress and BJP stormed into the well of the House with banners demanding justice for Naba Das and the investigation be handed over to the CBI. They also slammed the government on the law and order situation in Odisha.

The pandemonium prompted the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings of the House till 11.30 am. On the other hand, the ruling BJD lawmakers also showed banners and raised slogans against the Centre over various farmers’ issues.

The Opposition gheraoed the podium of the House and raised slogans against the ruling BJD government even as Speaker requested them to go back to their seats and raise their objections during the Zero Hour.

The Question Hour witnessed poster war between the Opposition and the ruling party inside the Assembly.

Speaking to OTV, BJP Chief Whip Mohan Majhi said, “We had requested the Speaker to discuss Minister Naba Das’ murder as ‘motion’. But, the Speaker did not accept our demands or application. This is a sensitive case and needs to be investigated thoroughly. We do not have any hope on the Crime Branch as the history of CB shows it that they have never successfully cracked any case.”

“So, we demand a thorough probe by CBI in this case. By raising farmers’ issues, they are just trying to divert the case and save the real murderer of Naba Das. BJP will continue the fight until CBI is entrusted with the probe,” he added.

Notably, the Budget session of the Odisha Assembly which began on Tuesday will continue till April 6.
