Ruckus in Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha programme in Koraput over 'MGNREGA corruption'

A ruckus was created at the Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha meeting at Golur panchayat under Koraput’s Nandapur block when some disgruntled Biju Janata Dal (BJD) workers climbed up the stage and argued with the Block officials and other BJD leaders. The incident was reported on Thursday.

As per reports, some displeased BJD leaders climbed up the stage with LAccMI bus service posters and alleged unfair treatment for their Panchayat as there is no LAccMI bus service from Golur to the district Headquarters at Koraput.

They also alleged that the contractor who had worked for years under MGNREGA has not been paid. They even alleged that there has been corruption in four projects undertaken through MGNREGA which was investigated by a social reviewer.

The protesters finally got down from the stage after the Sarpanch, former Sarpanch, Assistant Executive Engineer pacified them and assured them to look into their demands.

is pertinent to mention here that the ruckus and protests during the Nabin Odisha programme are not new. Tension erupted yesterday at Bhadrak’s Basudevpur after two groups clashed over ownership of a community centre being built under the Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha programme.

Similarly, an Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha awareness programme at Artung Panchayat under Bhadrak’s Basudebpur block saw a scuffle between a ward member and former Sarpanch on Saturday over allegations of false promotion of Odisha government schemes.
