Rs 62.44 LPA highest package bagged at NIT Rourkela 2024-25 placement drive; 373 companies offer 1,274 jobs

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has concluded its 2024-25 placement season with 1,274 job offers and 509 six-month internships, many of which are expected to lead to pre-placement offers. Notably, the outcome comes despite a challenging global job market marked by recession-driven layoffs.

According to data shared by NIT-Rourkela, the highest salary package offered this year touched Rs 62.44 lakh per annum, while the average package for the flagship B.Tech programme stood at Rs 14.10 LPA.

The M.Tech programme recorded an average of Rs 13.48 LPA. More than 85 students secured annual packages above Rs 30 lakh, whereas for internships, the highest offer reached Rs 1.26 lakh per month.

Department-Wise and Sectoral Performance

Reports added that the institute achieved 82.20% placements for BTech programmes, with departments such as Ceramic Engineering (97.73%), Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (97.06%), and Computer Science and Engineering (94.48%) reporting standout results.

More than 80% of students from other major undergraduate streams, including Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical & Materials, and Electronics and Communication Engineering, also secured placements.

In terms of sectoral participation, Software and IT Services led placements with 22.9%, followed by Manufacturing (12.4%), BFSI (11.1%), Education (10.8%), Power & Heavy Industries (8.1%), and Oil & Gas (6.1%). Other contributions came from emerging areas such as aerospace, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.

Recruiter Participation

A total of 373 companies took part in the placement process, with nearly 48% of them recruiting from NIT Rourkela for the first time. Top recruiters included Google, AMD, Qualcomm, Amazon, ExxonMobil, JSW, Wells Fargo, DE Shaw & Co, Deloitte, Accenture, Barclays, MathWorks, ITC, Texas Instruments, American Express, HP, and Bharat Petroleum.
