An adult Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) was reportedly spotted Monday night at around 9.00 PM by two local youths near Tuburusingi village of Ramagiri in Gajapati district.

“I was confronted by a tiger on Monday night when I was returning back home after my duty was over and I got scared. After taking a photo of the animal, I went towards Champapur Chhak away from my village,” a local named Anasim Pradhan who saw the tiger said.

“We will verify if it is true or false by scrutinising available pug marks or excreta, if any. However, a tiger is roaming in Chikiti of Ganjam and its nearby areas. The big cat killed four goats in a nearby village under the Berhampur forest division of the district, last night,” Paralakhemundi Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) S. Anand informed on Wednesday.

“We will even use camera traps to confirm if it is the same tiger spotted in Chikiti,” the DFO added.
