Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Friday held a detailed review meeting on ongoing Works Department projects in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The meeting, held at Lok Seva Bhavan, centered around the Bhubaneswar Integrated Development Plan and the city's traffic decongestion strategy, which involves major infrastructure initiatives aimed at reducing traffic bottlenecks in the Capital city.
Key projects under review include the construction of an elevated corridor along the Jaydev Vihar–Nandankanan Road and the development of the Daya West Canal Road, which will connect Patia Station Square to Suanga mouza.
The plan also proposes the widening of the Sundarpada–Jatni Road and building three flyovers at Kalpana Square, Museum Square, and Sishu Bhawan Square. An underpass at AG Square is also part of the proposed infrastructure upgrades, according to reports.
To improve connectivity further, a left-side parallel road is planned from the Institute of Mathematics to Ekamra Kanan, passing through Pathargadia, Utkal Hospital, and Rail Vihar. Additionally, the plan includes three right-side access roads linking different parts of the city, along with an inner ring road.
According to a government statement, these initiatives are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion while enhancing the city’s visual appeal. A rehabilitation package has also been announced for approximately 366 families who will be displaced by the projects.
