BJD MP Debashish Samantaray on Monday launched a fierce attack on the party’s former MLA Pravat Biswal for reportedly attributing the party’s drubbing in the just-concluded general elections to anti-BJD wave and criticising VK Pandian and Pranab Prakash Das.

"At the time of need, he (Pravat Biswal) would go to Pandian and Bobby Das. What has happened now? Who has given him the right to give such statements against the party when it is passing through a difficult time?," asked Debashish adding he perhaps played a vital role in the midnight operation against Naveen Babu.

Sharpening his attack, Debashish said Pravat is giving such statements and leaning towards BJP with an intention to come out of a CBI case.

“It is unfortunate that the father of a winning MLA is criticizing the party in such a (bad) time. Who has given him the right to give statements against anyone?” said Debashish.

Pravat responded quickly.  “Who has given Debashish the right to speak against me?” asked Pravat.

“Those who played a crucial role on May 29 are now entrusted with responsibilities,” he said, adding he has enough respect for the CBI.

Debashish also targeted Sambit Routray over the latter's rat remark.

“I am not considering Sambit Routray at par with my political level. The people of his constituency which used to be BJD’s fortress rejected him and his entire family. So he has no right to say so,” said Debashish.

On the other hand, Sambit too took a dig at Debashish, saying, “My ‘Dhola Bhitare Musha’ remark was not aimed at him. I can’t understand why he is reacting. He has been rejected by the Cuttack people.”
