The Revenue Inspectors (RI) of the State have gone on a cease-work strike since February 19 demanding Odisha District Revenue Service (ODRS) cadre restructure, pay hike and other perks.

The RIs have resorted to protests in front of several Tehsil offices in Odisha including Koraput district crippling public services across the district.

As per reports, the works at Tehsil offices in Jeypore, Koraput, Borigumma, Boipariguda, Kundura and Bandhugaon have come to a halt owing to the strike.

“We had written to the government requesting restructuring of our cadre. We had threatened to wear black badges from January 24. We have been wearing the same since January 25,” said a protester in Jeypore.

"The government had assured us to meet our demands by February 15. But nothing has happened till now. No advertisement has been published about our cadre restructuring. Our association has decided to undergo a cease-work protest from February 19, which is what we are doing now,” he added.

Another protester said, “We understand people are suffering because of our strike. We are sorry for that. But the government is not hearing us out. Even the smallest of our demands are not being met. When an ARI joins job, their grade pay is not hiked even after working for 10 years. This is really unfortunate.”
