'Restricted activities' at Parala Maharaja Engineering College in Berhampur, 7 students expelled
At least seven students of Parala Maharaja Engineering College in Berhampur have been expelled, as per a notice issued by the concerned college authorities on September 12.
The notice read that the students have been expelled for indulging in ‘restricted activities’.
According to the notification issued by the Office of the Student Welfare Dean of the government college, the action against the students came after they were found violating Halls of Residence (HoR) Rules and code of conduct.
“The Dean Students Welfare, Parala Maharaja Engineering College, Berhampur has expelled the following boarders from the respective HoRs, with approval of the competent authority, for their involvement in restricted activities in Room No B-23 of Falguni HoR on 11-09-2024 night, which has violated HoR Rules and Code of Conduct,” the notification read.
Besides, a fine of Rs 2000 has also been slapped on one of the expelled students.
According to the notification, the expelled students are pursuing their degree in Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Telecommunications (ETC) and Electrical & Electronics (EE) trades.
Meanwhile, one platoon of police force has been deployed at the college campus apprehending tension further.
No comments from college authorities or expelled students could be obtained over the incident.
