The Border Security Force (BSF), the foremost border guarding force, operates under the umbrella of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). The BSF acts as India's first line of defense.

On this Republic Day, we try to look at the BSF’s role in leading and assisting Odisha Police in enhancing the security apparatus in Maoist-dominated areas in the state.

BSF’s strategic deployment in Odisha started in 2010 in the Naxal-affected areas of Koraput and Malkangiri districts. Later, its deployment was extended to Nabarangpur and Rayagada districts in 2013.

Here Are Key Achievements

The Swabhimaan Anchal, once a Maoist-liberated zone, has been successfully sanitised by BSF.

Former strongholds of Maoists in Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon areas of Koraput district have been effectively cleared by BSF.
