Ravenshaw University alumni's meeting
Amid the ongoing Ravenshaw University renaming row, some alumni of the British-era institution held a round table meeting at the Red Cross Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and decided not to allow the rechristening of their alma mater.
To chalk out the future course of action to not allow the renaming of Ravenshaw University, some former students of the university held a meeting under the chairmanship of former Odisha Police DG Amiya Bhushan Tripathy. The meeting was attended by many alumni who have earned a name and fame as administrative officers, politicians, linguists and journalists.
In the meeting, the future course of action was discussed and a forum in the name of Ravenshaw Heritage Forum was formed.
The university’s former students demanded Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to withdraw his personal statement and take part in debates.

“Ravenshaw’s name will remain unchanged. For this, a stiff fight will be waged. We are ready to sacrifice the last drop of our blood to see that Ravenshaw University’s name is not changed,” said former DGP Amiya Bhushan Tripathy.
“Many are in the dark about what Ravenshaw did for Odisha. It is of no use to announce anything without knowing details. Odisha is known for two temples in the world. One is Jagannath temple and the other one is Ravenshaw University, the temple of learning. So, there is no reason to change its name,” said Padma Shri recipient Devi Prasanna Pattanayak, a linguist.
