The Ratna Bhandar (treasure trove) of Puri Srimandir is likely to open on July 8. As per sources, the counting of ornaments will continue for 20 days- from July 8 to July 27.

As per sources, before the opening of Ratna Bhandar, the supervising committee meeting comprising 12 members may be held on July 5. It will be the third meeting of the committee to be held in this regard. 

The final decision about the opening of Ratna Bhandar will be taken in the meeting. Proper scheduling of the counting work will also be prepared in the meeting. Apart from that, the State government’s permission is also required for the opening of Ratna Bhandar.

Discussion will also be made with Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb who is the chairman of the management committee. Prior to the meeting of the supervising committee, an immediate meeting of the managing committee may be held.

Justice Arijit Pasayat, who is heading the committee to supervise the inventory of valuables in Ratna Bhandar, is set to visit Odisha on July 4. 

Sources further informed that Pasayat’s visit has been earmarked for the Ratna Bhandar inventorisation work.

As believed, it will be a challenge to continue the counting work along with various rituals during Rath Yatra.
