Ration cards to be provided to new beneficiaries from November: Odisha Minister

Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday informed that ration cards will be provided to new beneficiaries from November.

After the scrutiny of around 10 lakh applications, the Odisha government will initiate the process to issue ration cards to the new beneficiaries, said Patra.

Speaking to media in Bhubaneswar, Patra said, “The distribution of ration cards will begin in a month. The eKYC process is underway. Once it is complete, the number of ineligible beneficiaries can be ascertained. Subsequently, the ineligible beneficiaries will be removed.”

“We have received more than 10 lakh applications. Only eligible beneficiaries will get the ration card,” Patra added.
