Minor girl allegedly raped and murdered in Nabarangpur
Politics heated up in Odisha over the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl under Tentulikhunti police limits in Nabarangpur district on Tuesday.
The matter come to the fore after the mutilated body of the victim was found near a bush behind a school under Tentulikhunti police limits.
Following the incident, the Opposition BJD alleged on Friday that the law and order situation has deteriorated in the State in the 100 days of governance of the BJP. As per the BJD, crime against women like rape and murder has increased during the period.
“Though double engine government is in power in Odisha and a tribal person is the Chief Minister of the State. A tribal girl in Nabarangpur district was raped and murdered. BJD demands immediate arrest of the culprit and stern action against him. If necessary steps in this regard are not taken soon, BJD will hit the streets across the district and call for ‘Nabarangpur bandh’,” said Nabarangpur District BJD President, Ramesh Chandra Majhi.
In response, the BJP hit back by saying that the BJD is doing politics over the dead body.
“BJP strongly condemns BJD’s effort to do politics over the dead body. Law will take its own course and police are doing their work. They have sought a time period of 15 days within which the culprit will be arrested and necessary action will be taken,” said Nabarangpur District BJP President Jagdish Bissoyi.
