Lopamudra Sahu, the victim who was killed in the Range Rover accident in Bhubaneswar
A day after Lopamudra Sahu, who was hit by a speeding Range Rover near Power House Square succumbed to the injuries during treatment, the BJP unit of Odisha lambasted the Odisha government and demanded immediate compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the victim’s family.
“We demand that the Chief Minister immediately provide Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the victim Lopamudra’s family from the Chief Minister Relief Fund. Later, the government can recover the Rs 50 lakh from Bishal Das and Saroj Bhoi,” demanded BJP spokesperson, Manoj Mahapatra.
“We also demand that these two be arrested as soon as possible. They have very cunningly made their driver a scapegoat. So, the two should be arrested by Commissionerate Police based on the CCTV footage after registering a criminal case,” he added.
The victim Lopamudra Sahu was going on a bike with a relative Kanhu Charan Nayak when they were hit by the Range Rover. Police seized the car which is registered in the name of Armour Ray Ventures Private Limited.
Interestingly, one of the directors of the company happens to be Bishal Das, son of slain minister Naba Kishore Das. Initial reports suggest the Range Rover was on its way towards the Governor House Square when they hit the bike which was coming from Unit 8 area.
Lopamudra was rushed to Capital Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack. However, she succumbed to the injuries after three days while undergoing treatment.
