Ram Navami: 'Elaborate security arrangements in Rourkela'

Elaborate security arrangements will be made in Rourkela to ensure peaceful Ram Navami celebrations. Besides, all necessary facilities will be put in place for people and visitors keeping the heat wave in view. 

The decisions were taken at a meeting of the city peace committee at the SP office on Saturday. Officials of the district administration, senior police officials and representatives of 58 Akhada committees were present at the meeting which was presided over by the Rourkela SP.

Traffic management was discussed at the meeting.

The committee underscored the need for peaceful processions. As per the decision, processions will take place from Birsa Munda Chhak to Uditnagar. The procession will start in the afternoon and conclude in the evening amid elaborate police deployment.

As heat wave is prevailing across the state, the district administration will make necessary arrangements for drinking water and resting sheds. 

Speaking to the media, SP Brijesh Kumar Rai said, "We had a meeting with the peace committee. We discussed with the puja and Akhada committees about the peaceful celebration of Ram Navami in the city.  The earlier SOPs were examined.”

“We also discussed traffic management, timings of processions and modalities of the immersion ceremony,” he added.
