Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday visited the famous Baba Dhabaleswar Temple in Athgarh, Cuttack. Vaishnaw, who is in Odisha, offered prayers and sought the blessings of Baba Dhabaleswar.

He was given a grand welcome by the priests who apprised him of the need for the re-development of the age-old shrine. He held a discussion with all the priests and assured them to turn the Temple into a tourist destination for devotees.

He also enquired about the hanging bridge and promised to take up the renovation work with the District Collector.

“I’m feeling blessed to get this opportunity to seek the blessing of Baba Dhabaleswar. I’m feeling lively. I have promised to turn this sacred place into a tourist destination for devotees. I have discussed this with the priests here and they have shared their opinions. They have also apprised me about the hanging bridge. I will discuss the matter with the District Collector and take immediate steps for its restoration,” Vaishnaw stated.

After his temple visit, Vaishnaw set out for public meetings scheduled at Athgarh, Badamba, and Narsinghpur. A day back, Vaishnaw took stock of the construction work of Bhubaneswar railway station which is currently under transformation to become a world-class railway station.

He also inaugurated the Daspalla railway station and flagged off train services. Following the inauguration, four trains including two passengers, one express, and one MEMU train will provide regular railway services in Daspalla.
