Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun on theatre stampede: Allegations against me false
In mounting troubles for actor Allu Arjun, a senior Congress leader in Telangana, Theenmar Mallanna, filed a complaint against him on Monday over a controversial scene in his latest movie 'Pushpa 2: The Rise'.
The complaint, lodged at Medipalli police station of Hyderabad, also named the movie's director Sukumar, and the producers, reported NDTV.
The Congress leader stated in his complaint that a scene in the movie depicted Arjun’s character urinating in a swimming pool while a police officer was present.
Describing the scene as disrespectful and degrading to the dignity of law enforcement officers, Mallanna demanded strict action against the actor and all concerned film executives.
This complaint comes amid an ongoing stampede controversy surrounding Allu Arjun. On December 4, a stampede occurred at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere of Pushpa 2, resulting in the death of a woman named Revathi. The incident also left Revathi's eight-year-old son critically injured.
The actor had attended the premiere despite police reportedly denying him permission to do so. Although he was subsequently arrested and lodged in jail for a day, he was out on bail the next morning.
The stampede incident has now escalated into a political row, with the state's opposition targeting the Congress government over violent protests at the actor's house.
Telangana's Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, also blamed Allu Arjun for the tragedy and soon after reports surfaced that he had been issued a fresh notice to appear for questioning regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, public outrage over the stampede incident appears to be growing as reports from yesterday stated miscreants entered the actor’s house and vandalized it. At least six people climbed over the walls of Allu Arjun’s residence, hurled tomatoes, destroyed flower pots, hurled slogans, and demanded compensation for the deceased.
