A senior servitor raised the issue of opening the four doors of Srimandir at the first meeting of the Ratha Yatra Coordination Committee on Saturday.

As per reports, senior servitor Damodar Mahasuar, during the meeting observed that the four gates of Srimandir should be opened for devotees well before the Ratha Yatra, which will kick off on July 7.

He also threatened to launch a hunger strike if steps were not taken to open the four doors of the Srimandir.

Moreover, Mahasuar also brought a serious allegation that police personnel are seeking bribes from devotees to facilitate the darshan of the deities taking advantage of the rush.

No comments were received from the temple administration.

As the world-famous Ratha Yatra is going to start on July 7, the first meeting of the Ratha Yatra Coordination Committee discussed the measures and provisions for the peaceful conduct of the festival.

Devotees currently enter the temple through the Singhadwar (lions’ gate) and it often causes a huge rush and long queues forcing them to wait for several hours.
