Puri police issues traffic advisory for Bahuda Yatra and Sunabesa; check all details

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Puri Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory for the Bahuda Yatra and Sunabesa, outlining routes and parking for vehicles to ensure smooth pilgrimage.

Rath Yatra 2025

With the return leg of the Rath Yatra in the form of Bahuda Yatra and the Sunabesa darshan of Lord Jagannath approaching, the Puri Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to manage the influx of pilgrims and maintain order across the town.

The advisory, released on Thursday, outlines structured movement plans for four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and shuttle services.

Four-Wheeler Routes

According to the advisory, four-wheelers entering Puri from three key directions, Brahmagiri, Bhubaneswar, and Konark, will follow designated routes with specific parking zones.

  • From Brahmagiri, vehicles can proceed up to Mangalaghat and Sterling Chhak, where parking is arranged. Access is routed via Jagannath Ballav and Old Jagannath Ballav roads.

  • From Bhubaneswar, entry is allowed up to RTO, Balia Nagar, and Grid Station, with parking near these points. Movement is also channelled via Jagannath Ballav and the local police station.

  • From Konark, vehicles can reach Talabania, Bada Danda, and Blue Flag Beach, with parking available at the Indoor Stadium, Talabania, and Bada Danda. Entry is structured through Jagannath Ballav to maintain traffic order near the temple axis.

This zoning is aimed at preventing bottlenecks around Grand Road (Bada Danda) and the Jagannath Temple precinct.

Two-Wheeler Routes

Two-wheelers are assigned parallel routes for smoother control:

  • From Brahmagiri, two-wheelers will park at Janata Maidan and Talabania, with access routed through Jagannath Ballav corridors.

  • From Bhubaneswar, riders will be directed to park near the Market Building and Talabania, again routed via Jagannath Ballav and police checkpoints.

  • From Konark, parking is earmarked at Blue Flag Beach and Talabania, with access through the same central routing system.

Three-Wheeler Shuttle

To further enhance connectivity and provide last-mile mobility, especially for elderly and differently-abled pilgrims, a structured shuttle service has been arranged:

  • Three-wheelers from Talabania will proceed through Water Works Road, Odisha Bakery, and Ram Mandir, dropping passengers at Shreekhetra Colony and Mangala Mandir before returning via the same path.

  • From Batagaon Chhaka, vehicles will follow the same drop-off and return plan.

  • Three-wheelers coming from the Brahmagiri side are permitted up to Sterling Chhak via Mangalaghat, with drop-off and return routes strictly fixed to prevent disruption.

24/7 Helpline for Real-Time Support

To support both pilgrims and vehicle operators, a round-the-clock helpline (06752-232951) has been activated. It will assist with queries, complaints, and on-ground navigation during the high-footfall events.
