The Odisha Police has made elaborate security arrangements in the pilgrim town Puri in view of the mega opening of the Srimandir Parikrama Project on January 17, 2024.

Two different security mechanisms will be in place; one will remain active till January 16 while another arrangement will be in place for the grand day on January 17 and the next day. A total of 44 platoons of police force will be deployed for the overall security, traffic and other arrangements which will be in place from today till January 16.

Five Additional SP rank officers, 10 DSP rank officers, 30 Inspector rank officers will supervise all security and other arrangements, informed Central Range IG, Asish Singh.

According to Singh, the entire security arrangement will function round-the-clock till the arrival of dignitaries and completion of the inauguration of the Parikrama Project.

Security Focus On Key Areas

Hassle-Free Darshan: Special emphasis will be given to ensure that the devotees do not face problems in having a darshan of the deities at Puri Srimandir. A special force in this regard has been augmented apart from extra deployment around the temple and gates.

Dedicated Team And Face Reading: Senior police officials informed that CCTV cameras, Anti-Sabotage and Surveillance team, trained officers, K9 squad from different districts will be in action. Face reading will be done through 135 cameras installed in entire area. The entire activities will be monitored from the control unit. Sources said there is data based on facial recognition and eye-technology.

Apart from this, 4 specially trained teams will be deployed which will respond and take action in case of any information received or observed in CCTV.
