Process underway to hike old age, widow and disability pensions to Rs 3000: Odisha Minister

The newly elected BJP government in Odisha has started the process of increasing pensions for old age, widows, and disabled beneficiaries. Minister Nityananda Gond stated that preparations are underway to raise the pensions to Rs 3,000, pending budget clearance.

As per its previous announcement, the newly elected BJP government in Odisha is working on increasing various pensions for eligible beneficiaries in the state.

Nityananda Gond, Minister Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, on Tuesday said that the process has already begun for increasing the old age, widow and disability pension in the state.

According to Gond, the pension for such beneficiaries will be increased to Rs 3,000.

“Preparations are underway and we will see how much budget is coming. We are discussing with the finance department for clearance in this regard,” said Gond.

On hike in scholarships, which has not been increased, the Minister said that the state government will certainly consider it and take appropriate decisions.
