The joy of Cuttack residents knew no bounds after their long wait to get a glimpse of the President of India and daughter of the land, Droupadi Murmu came to an end on Wednesday.

President Murmu, who is on a three-day visit to Odisha, visited Cuttack Chandi temple in the Silver City and sought the blessings of the Goddess.

Braving rain, hundreds of local residents including school students gathered outside the shrine to greet the First Lady of the Country.

After offering puja, President Murmu came out of the temple and waved her hands and greeted the people waiting for her.

Moreover, President Murmu stopped her carcade midway and got down the car while on her way to Shailabala Women's College. She met the children waiting for her by the roadside and distributed chocolates among them.

“I have just come to see the President of India. But I never expected that she would come out of her car and give chocolate to me. I am thrilled,” said Pragyan Paramita Biswal, a student.

Another student Satyashree Das said, “I was waiting outside Chandi temple to see the President. But, it was not possible there. I then move to Chandi Chhak. President came out of her car and shook hands with me before giving me the chocolate. I am feeling so proud.”

Notably, President Murmu, who landed in Bhubaneswar on July 25, will be in the State till July 27. During her three-day visit to Odisha, she will attend several programmes.
