President Droupadi Murmu to visit Odisha in May

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Baripada in Mayurbhanj on May 9 this year.

She will grace the 12th convocation ceremony of the Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University as the Chief Guest.

The visit was confirmed by the Private Secretary to the President of India on Thursday.

"The President will be pleased to grace the 12th Convocation of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University on May 9, 2023, at Baripada, Mayurbhanj," the Secretary wrote to the Vice Chancellor of the University.

It is pertinent to mention here that while this will be Murmu's third Odisha visit; it will be her first visit to her home district, Mayurbhanj.

President Murmu had recently visited Odisha on February 10. On her two-day visit, she addressed the students and faculty members during the second convocation ceremony of Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar. She also visited the Lord Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar and inaugurated the second Indian Rice Congress at the National Rice Research Institute in Cuttack.
