President Droupadi Murmu reached Odisha on Wednesday on a four-day visit to the State. She arrived at Mayurbhanj from Ranchi on a special helicopter of the Indian Air Force in the afternoon. 

On her arrival, she was accorded a warm welcome in the presence of Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu, Mayurbhanj Collector, and scores of people’s representatives. 

Soon after arrival, the President reached the Kichakeswari temple at Khiching. Along the way, she waved at thousands of people including schoolchildren, who waited for the President amid tight security arrangements. 

President Droupadi Murmu, her daughter Sushri, and Odisha Governor Raghubar Das had darshan of the Goddess at the temple. The president also offered puja. It is her first visit to the Kichakeswari shrine after becoming the President.

As per the tour schedule, after the visit to Kichakeswari temple, she will stay at her residence at Mahulagadia in Rairangpur.

Before heading for her residence, she will have a meeting with officials.

President Droupadi Murmu expresses displeasure

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her displeasure after being unable to visit the museum on Kichakeswari temple premises in Mayurbhanj. Despite a visit scheduled, the museum was found closed. The sub-collector later said that the museum has been closed for repairs.
