Odisha CM Mohan Majhi announces 40,000 jobs this year, aiming for 1.5 lakh total, during pre-budget meeting. Focus on industries, agriculture, and rural development through the Bikashita Gaon Bikashita Odisha project.

Around 40,000 job opportunities will be created this year, informed Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi after the pre-budget meeting held on Friday.

The state government had previously set a target to create 1.5 lakh jobs and 40,000 jobs will be provided this year, marking a step towards fulfilling that commitment. Efforts continue to align job creation with economic growth and development strategies. 

“We are focusing on industries and agriculture. We believe that investments can bring in transformation which can help in ushering development of rural areas. We are going to implement Bikashita Gaon Bikashita Odisha project and Cabinet has already approved it,” said CM Mohan Majhi.

The CM further informed that several proposals were given and discussed at the pre-budget meeting.

The pre-budget consultations assume significance as the budget session of the Odisha Assembly will begin from February 13. The Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, who holds the portfolio of Finance department, will present the budget in the House on February 17, 2025.

The first phase of the Budget session will commence from February 13 to continue till February 21.
The pre-budget consultation has seen involvement of former finance ministers and economic experts to guide fiscal policies.

These discussions have been supplemented by insights from various members of the community, contributing several valuable suggestions to the budget planning process. The government remains open to feedback, with submissions being accepted until January 31.
