The power supply went off for some time when the National Anthem was being sung at an event where Chhattisgarh Governor, Biswabhusan Harichandan was participating as a chief guest on Saturday. 

On the ninth day of the ongoing 26th Kalinga Book Fair at the Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, there was a felicitation programme. The Chhattisgarh Governor attended the event as the chief guest to felicitate 13 writers, litterateurs, linguists and social activists. 

All the guests including the Chhattisgarh Governor were on the stage when the lights went off for some time. However, a diesel power generator was made operational.

The incident reminded people of a similar incident when President Droupadi Murmu was delivering her speech at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University at Baripada in Mayurbhanj on May 6. The whole auditorium in the University plunged into darkness for around nine minutes just after President Murmu began her speech.

The incident had kicked off a furore with the government receiving criticism from all quarters.
