While the entire Odisha continues to reel under intense heatwave conditions, the unscheduled and frequent power cuts have added to the woes of the common people.

Fumed over the power outage, the BJP workers on Monday held a protest at the Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) office in Dhenkanal.

The saffron party workers led by former MLA Krushna Chandra Patra and former MP Rudra Pani staged a protest at the TPCODL office. Moreover, they also locked the main gate of the office protesting the power snaps in the area.

The agitating members also threatened to call Dhenkanal bandh if TPCODL fails to take necessary measure to address the power outage in the district.

“The Odisha government has completely failed in the power distribution. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should applogise while the Energy Minister Pratap Deb should resign from his post. We will continue our protest until the District Collector comes here,” BJP leader Rudra Pani said.

“At a time when the entire Odisha is reeling under intense heatwave conditions, the frequent power cut by TPCODL is condemnable. If required, we will intensify our protest and even call for Dhenkanal bandh,” said an agitating BJP leader.

Meanwhile, the protest was called off after the TPCODL executive engineer assured of an uninterrupted power supply.

Meanwhile, Congress activists hit the streets, and hurled eggs and tomatoes at GRIDCO office in Bhubaneswar in protest against power cuts.

Moreover, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Sarat Pattanayak also appealed people not to pay pending electricity bills.

Similarly, BJP activists and locals gheroed electricity office in Balasore’s Soro protesting the power outage in the area.
