The much-awaited postgraduate courses of Satyabadi Odia University in Puri district commenced on Wednesday.

As the building of the university is yet to be completed, classes are being conducted at the Sakhigopal Panthashala on a temporary basis.

Odisha Higher Education Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Satyabadi MLA Umakanta Samantaray, Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. Sabita Pradhan were present on the occasion to mark the commencement of courses.

“Postgraduate courses of Satyabadi Odia University have started and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has wished a bright future for the students of the university. The university will go a long way in the development and publicity of the Odia language. The infrastructure of the university will be ready within a month or two,” said Minister Nayak.

“24 students each have taken admission in three departments of the university. We have started the classes symbolically. The university will offer PG courses and facilitate research in Odia language, literature, culture, and conservation of tribal language, literature, and linguistics,” said Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sabita Pradhan.
