At least 20 kg of Ganja was recovered from a car abandoned in a ditch filled with water near Bhaler village under Bolangir’s Puintala police limits on Tuesday.

As per reports, locals spotted a car lying in the ditch on Tuesday morning and informed the police. When the police pulled out the car with the help of a crane, bags filled with Ganja were seen stored inside it.

It is suspected that the car carrying Ganja met with an accident and fell into the ditch after which the occupants fled the spot.

Some locals also suspect the occupants of the car deliberately pushed the car into the ditch to get rid of the Ganja.

While the car bore the registration number OD 26 9099, the police are yet to make any arrests in the incident.

No comments could be obtained from the police in this regard either.

Recently, Rairakhol police in Sambalpur caught some ganja mafias after giving them an intense chase to their fleeting SUV with the contraband.

After a hot pursuit, police arrested one of the accused at Rairakhola College Chhak. Moments later, another was caught near Maheswari Hospital. The accused were identified as Arman Khan of Jharkhand and Altaf Raj of Rourkela.

Police also seized the SUV along with 57 kg of ganja.
