Police personnel from Sagada outpost in Boudh district have been accused of assaulting a roadside dhaba worker and forcibly taking cash from the eatery on August 7 night.
According to the complaint, Sagada outpost Sub Inspector (SI) Chandan Jena and a few policemen in civil dress reached the dhaba around midnight and demanded food.
When a staff told them that the eatery was closed, the policemen allegedly assaulted the worker and took Rs 6,200 from the cash counter, sources added.
Following the incident, the victim lodged a written complaint at the police station on Sunday. However, it has been alleged that no action has yet been taken against the accused officers.
Protesting against the incident, dhaba owner and staff staged a dharna demanding justice.
“They came and asked me to serve food. As the outlet was already shut, I said them that no food is available. When I denied, they started thrashing me. Two were in police uniform and four others were in civil dress,” alleged the victim.
