Police outpost in every medical college: Odisha Health Minister
Voices of concern over the safety and security of doctors at hospitals are getting louder with every passing following the heinous crime at RG Kar hospital. The Odisha government on Monday stated that it is committed to ensure the safety and security of medical professionals at the workplace.
During the discussion on the demand for grants of the Odisha Health Department, Minister Mukesh Mahaling stated that in view of the safety and security of doctors and medical staff, a police outpost will be set up in every medical college in the state. The minister informed the House that as per the directions of the Supreme Court, a task force has been constituted headed by the Chief Secretary of the State to look into the various security aspects at hospitals.
Moreover, the minister also stated that discussions will be held with the Centre for a second AIIMS campus at Sambalpur. The minister also informed that Odisha will benefit to the tune of Rs 600 crore with the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
