With no let-up in theft in apartments in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police is reportedly in a fix and struggling to explore ways to contain the looting spree.

As per reports, Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda convened a meeting of IOs, IICs, ACP, and DCPs on Saturday. The top police officials dwelt upon the loot incidents and examined the CCTV visuals thereof. 

The Commissioner has insisted on IICs, ACP, and DCPs to crack down on the miscreants involved in the loot cases.
Police have got information that some gangs from other states are active in Bhubaneswar.

Speaking to the media, the Commissioner said, “Several theft cases have taken place in some apartments in Bhubaneswar in the last several days. We have taken the cases seriously and had a brainstorming session with IOs, IICs, ACP, and DCPs about the cases. We have meticulously studied the video footage of all cases and common clues.”

He added that the police have made good progress in the investigation of some cases. “We had an elaborate discussion about coordination among police stations to identify gangs, to arrest them, and make seizures.      

It is worth mentioning here that three flats in an apartment at Bhimpur under Pahal Police Limits were burgled on January 30. Miscreants decamped with valuables worth Rs 30 lakh from Kalyani Whites Apartment at Bhimpur when the occupants of the concerned flats were reportedly out of station.
