A police Inspector-In-Charge and an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Chandipur Police Station in Balasore were nabbed by the Vigilance department on Wednesday while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a liquor trader.

The accused cops have been identified as Ganeswar Pradhan (IIC) and Pradeep Mohanty (ASI).

As per reports, the accused cops were taking a 'monthly commission' from the liquor trader when the vigilance sleuths caught them. The cops were demanding Rs 50,000 every month from the trader who has a liquor shop at Balaramgadi in the district.

Sources said, before being transferred to Chandipur Police Station, Ganeswar Pradhan was posted as the IIC of traffic police station.

No comments could be obtained from the police in this connection.
