A vigilance team from Berhampur nabbed a police Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) red-handed at Boudh bus stand while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person.

The accused ASI, Nabin Kumar Satapathy is posted at Kiakata Police Station in Angul district.

As per reports, he was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while accepting bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant to help his cousins in a case registered earlier in Kiakata PS.

Satapathy had demanded Rs.10,000 bribe from the complainant and had collected first instalment of Rs 2000 a few days back. However, he was nabbed on Wednesday by the Vigilance while accepting the rest of the bribe amount.

The entire bribe money has been seized from the accused ASI.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations connected to Satapathy to recover disproportionate assets, if any.

Recently, a police Inspector-In-Charge and an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Chandipur Police Station in Balasore were nabbed by the Vigilance department on July 19 while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a liquor trader.
