PM Modi to launch Ayushman Bharat Yojana Phase-II tomorrow, Odisha to get benefits next year: Minister Mahaling
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the much-awaited phase II of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), a health insurance/assurance scheme of the Centre tomorrow i.e. October 29.
Speaking to media persons, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling informed that PM Modi would launch the ambitious Yojana virtually under which all the citizens above the age of 70 years will receive free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh at any hospital impaneled in the scheme.
However, as the Ayushman scheme is yet to be implemented in Odisha, the state government will have to prepare a modality and then take steps to implement the ambitious yojana in our state, the Health Minister informed.
He added that the welfare scheme would hopefully be implemented in Odisha by the end of this financial year i.e. after March or April 2025.
“The scheme is being launched throughout India tomorrow and it will benefit people above the age of 70 years,” the Health Minister informed.
Talking about Odisha, the Minister said, “The Health Department is taking all necessary steps. We are planning to include 3.50 crore people under the scheme out of the 4.50 crore people in Odisha. Very soon, there will be a mega launch of both Phase I and Phase II of the scheme in Odisha. Hopefully, we will be able to implement the scheme by the end of this financial year,” the Health Minister said.
