PM Modi’s Odisha visit: Schools to remain closed in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar; half day for govt employees
In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit and the state-level celebration marking one year of the BJP government in Odisha, all schools under the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Municipal Corporations will remain closed on Friday. The closure decision was taken anticipating large public gatherings and possible traffic disruptions.
Additionally, a half-day has been declared for all government offices in Bhubaneswar. All government departments under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation will remain closed in the second half of the day. Revenue and Magisterial courts will also remain shut.
To ensure security during the high-profile visit, tight arrangements have been put in place. A total of 133 platoons of police force, over 500 senior police officers, personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces, and other agencies have been deployed.
Special traffic arrangements, anti-sabotage measures, and crowd control protocols have been enforced along the route from the airport to Janata Maidan. Fire service units and ODRAF teams have also been deployed, keeping in mind the possibility of rain.
During today’s event, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth nearly Rs 19,000 crore. These include the launch of a new railway service connecting Odisha’s Boudh district for the first time, symbolizing expanded rail connectivity. He will also inaugurate 100 electric buses under CRUT (Capital Region Urban Transport).
