As many as three youngsters including a Plus II student met their watery graves while taking a bath after their Holi celebration in three separate incidents in Odisha.

In the first incident reported from Cuttack Salepur, a Plus II student from Chandipur had gone to a pond to take a bath after playing Holi with his friends and family. Unfortunately, he slipped into deep water and drowned, reports said.

Villagers rescued him and rushed him to the local hospital where doctors confirmed his death. The deceased has been identified as Ashish Kumar Das, son of Saroj Kumar Das.

“He was playing Holi with his friends and later went to take a bath in a pond near the village. His friends were bathing on one side when he slipped into deep water. His friends could not save him and alerted the villagers. He was then rescued and brought to the hospital.  Doctors tried their best to save him, but he could not be saved,” informed a fellow villager.

In a similar incident, a minor boy met his watery grave while taking a bath after playing Holi at Katkula village under Paradip Lock police limits. Another such incident of drowning was also reported from Balasore's Soro on the auspicious occasion of Holi, the festival of colours.
