After failing to clear the payment of a contractor, articles of BSNL Chief Engineer’s office in Bhubaneswar will be auctioned following the order of the court.

The court employees reportedly reached the office on Wednesday to carry out the auction process. However, they found the office locked and the employees missing.

As per reports, the contractor identified as Subash Chandra Kanchan was given the contract of a project by the office in 2000. Subsequently, Kanchan constructed nine Type-5 quarters behind Kalinga Hospital. However, the tender was given to somebody else in 2002 and a bill amounting to Rs 78 lakh is yet to be paid to Kanchan.

Following the development, Kanchan moved the court. Giving a verdict on the matter, the court has ordered to auction the articles of the BSNL Chief Engineer's office to cover up the payment.

“After reaching the office to auction the articles, we found that the departmental employees had locked the office and fled away from the spot. Notices have been issued to the office thrice, but they have not responded yet. We have no alternative but to come with police now,” said Kanchan.
