A patrolling boat of the forest department, part of dolphin protection measures, has been stranded in Chilika Lake after a technical snag. Four members from Chilika Nuapada Wildlife Division have been stuck for almost two hours. Rescue operations are ongoing.

A patrolling boat of the forest department has been stranded in Chilika Lake after their boat developed a snag mid-way. Four members of the Forest Department have been stranded in the middle of the lake for almost two hours following the technical snag, reports said.

According to sources, the forest personnel had left for patrolling as part of ongoing measures for the protection of the dolphins in the lake when the incident occurred.  

It was a routine check of the forest employees. However, the engine of the boat broke down, leaving them stranded.

 The four of them are forest staff of Chilika Nuapada Wildlife Divison. The rescue operation was on during the filing of this report.
