The victim has been identified as Bijay Biswal who is a resident of Dakhinabada village.

As per reports, Biswal was suffering from severe ache on his legs and hands due to cold. Subsequently, he came to the hospital and consulted a doctor for treatment. After checking the patient, the doctor wrote the required prescription. However, the nurse on duty allegedly administered a wrong injection meant for dog bite to the patient.

Irked over the development, relatives of the patient have demanded a probe and stern action against the concerned nurse.

Meanwhile, the Medical In-charge of the hospital has confessed about the fault by the nurse. Moreover, he has also assured that proper action will be taken against the health worker after an inquiry into the incident.

“The patient came for the treatment of pain in his body and the doctor prescribed him proper medicines and injections. However, the nurse administered the wrong injection to the patient. But, chances of side-effect of the injection is less. Even the rabies vaccine is administered to people before dog bite as precautionary measures. Hence, there is not even one per cent chance of any harm to the patient,” said Hospital In-Charge Kamalakanta Swain.

“The condition of the patient is presently normal. As the nurse has administered the injection by mistake, we will issue a show cause notice to her. An inquiry into the incident will be launched and proper action will be taken against the erring staff,” he added.
