Patient found hanging in Orthopedic ward of AIIMS Bhubaneswar

The body of a 70-year-old patient was found in mysterious condition in the Orthopedic ward of AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Monday. He was reportedly found hanging from the fan above his hospital bed.

The deceased, identified as Dilip Kumar Sahu hailed from Atalapur village in Jajpur district and was recently admitted to the ward.

As of now, it is suspected that the incident took place at midnight but the exact circumstances under which it happened, remains unclear.

Incidentally, there were 30 patients in the ward along with 10 AIIMS staff members on duty. Despite the presence of so many people, questions have been raised as to how such an incident could occur unnoticed.

Meanwhile, police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem but did not offer any comments on the matter. An investigation is underway with police interrogating the deceased's daughter, nearby patients, and hospital staff.

Further, the Bhubaneswar AIIMS authorities stated that the cause of death will be clarified after the autopsy.
