Part-plot sale likely from January

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari on Tuesday said that a resolution might emerge from the forthcoming meeting on December 31, potentially allowing for the sale of part plots from January.

This could resolve ongoing issues in the real estate sector. The minister mentioned that, if necessary, the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (RERA) may be amended. Oversight has previously been examined by the RERA committee, pointing out legal language complexities that require clearer articulation.

It has been revealed that partial plots have been registered unlawfully. A comprehensive list has been prepared by the department, enumerating 31 district registrars and sub-registrars under scrutiny. Minister Pujari stressed a thorough investigation into their motives and any potential misconduct involved.

“In a previous meeting, we had asked the RERA officials to find out ways to deal with the problems. They were also asked to prepare a draft proposal if the Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act needs any amendments,” said the Minister.

“Not only in RERA but also in the Development Authority Act, there are some language complexities, leading to confusion. To make amendments, or at least bring out some clarifications, we have a meeting scheduled on December 31. I hope a way will definitely emerge,” he added.
