Odisha Assembly speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha adjourned the House till 4 pm on Tuesday after the ruling BJD and Opposition BJP and Congress indulged in ruckus and protests during the zero hour.

Soon after the completion of the question hour, BJD members staged a protest by alleging that the Centre has neglected Odisha in allotting houses under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna (PMAY). They carried on the protests by standing near their seats and holding banners.

On the other hand, in his statement during the question hour, leader of the Opposition Jayanarayan Mishra slammed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for skipping important discussions in Assembly to have a trip to Mumbai.

BJP leaders marched towards the Speaker’s podium and shouted slogans against the State government for the delay in the investigation of high profile Cabinet minister Naba Das’ murder case.

Congress leaders also stood near the Speaker’s podium and staged protests for Naba Das murder and Gobinda Sahu suicide cases.

“Odisha is a peaceful State. But rape, murder and criminal activities are increasing in the State every year. The government has failed completely in maintaining the safety and security of people,” said Jayanarayan Mishra.

“Naba Das incident was a pre-planned murder by the government. The State government even doesn’t want to investigate the matter properly and reveal the intention behind the murder. The Crime Branch is clueless even after one month. If the government is not involved in the murder, why the case is not handed over to CBI?” questioned Mishra.
